Diversity
Multiculturalism is vital for all children because it sets social goals and promotes respect for everyone and our environment. We utilize books, music, games, and a wide range of activities to teach children respect for our world and the diversity of life in it. We envision and are committed to a childcare system that reflects, respects, and honors diversity.
- We Ensure no child or family is discriminated against based on their gender, culture, race, religion, ability, income, marital status, or sexual preference.
- We respect the range of family structures, including same-sex parents, social values, and child-rearing practices evident in the service and the wider community.
- We Incorporate information about the family’s background in meaningful ways to help ensure families feel welcome.
- We Provide a program that responds to individual strengths and interests of all children.
When working with children with additional needs:
- We use an inclusive approach, ensuring that all children, especially children with additional needs, have the same opportunities to participate in all experiences and all aspects of the program
- We Maintain updated information relevant to particular disabilities pertinent to the children in our care.
- We Incorporate information about the family’s background in meaningful ways to help ensure families feel welcome.
- We Provide a program that responds to individual strengths and interests of all children.
We encourage children to share their language and traditions, including family songs and games. We encourage your child to tell family stories and share their heritage with teachers and friends. We are how they would say the words in their language. We also have books and games to learn about different cultures. We also incorporate it into projects, celebrations, and lessons.
